Memorial Day Weekend w/a bit of Sasquatch thrown in

I had the best time.

No shower for the whole trip as apparently premium does not mean premium during the Sasquatch Music Fest! I rolled with the punches by remembering that I had a shower Friday morning so Saturday should not have been a neccessity, a babywipe cleaning Sunday and someone brought a kiddie pool so the last morning everyone experienced a makeshift shower complete with sorta' melted ice cubes! Later N bartered the kiddie pool for beer. There was one constant and that was the HoneyBucket.....a.k.a porter potties. They always had paper and were always cleaned...well for the most part.

I got to see so many cool bands that I will definitely add to my Ipod or get c.d.'s of such as Kings of Leon which while I wasn't sure of all the hype, but still wanted to listen with open ears, were great! They came on Saturday night as the ending band and totally made a believer out of me. The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs which I did not see 'cause Mos Def came on late, but I will still burn S's c.d. til I can get my own 'cause I have it from a very reputable source that they were amazing. Mos Def? You need not even ask, he made me dance from side to side and throw my hands in the air.

Erykah...shouldn't she be a one namer? I mean really, who does not know who she is? I'm just sayin'. She apparently was on CPT 'cause she was late...almost an hour which made Ben Harper late and I had to leave after his third song so I was not all that amused by the CPT situation. I really should have left either during the afternoon or camped an extra day so it really isn't fair to Erykah. That being said, I have to blame someone and it surely can not be me...lol. Aside from the lateness Miss Badu turned it out while Ben turned it on...I was suitably empressed which is always nice.

Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addition...need I say more? TV on the Radio was dynamite! I rock through the entire set. I was asleep when The Murder City Devils came on and that could have been the reason for my nightmares. I'm going to assume that they were both high and drunk....at the very least, drunk. The Avett Brothers were lovely....and their music too! I really felt it. Sometimes it really is just a feeling that you feel.

Calexico and Fleet Foxes, both made me sit up, not just watch mind you, but listen. Sadly I could not find my way to all three stages and while I would have loved to have hit up the dance/comedy stage, that too had to take a back seat. I came for the music and camping and I got both.

I met some really, really cool people. I ate some really random food and passed gas straight for two days lol! I was kissed by the sun a.k.a. I'm now red in places and chapped in others, but Vaseline is helping. Fortunately when I got back, I only had to work one day before spending two days off to recuperate from a fab trip to the Gorge. For my last hoorah before I start fixing up my life, this was exceptional!

My car ride back included loads of laughs, seeing people on the expressway which weren't really there and being too scared to use the bathroom in a couple of areas. I got out, went to go and I heard something racing across the grass...."yeah" I thought too myself and to M, "No thanks!" Later we rode 'round in circles looking for C's house to get my car. I finally arrived home with 1.5 hrs to sleep and hot bath before going to work.

What I've learned from the past is that I want to work hard and play hard!!!!!!

With that said, I am starting a seven day detox on fresh juices, no alcohol, dry-skin brushing and less commercial product usage.......I'm going to work on doing what needs to be done and what I want out of both work and in life.

  2. PARSIMONY - I can’t post to your blog but you mention you are being abused by being hot. Is Tommy monitoring your blog. Do you want the authorities alerted? You’ve given your town and I know it’s a small one. Can send screen shots of all the different abuse to your police station. Hope that helps get you to a shelter or safe house.
